Box Score MEMPHIS—Visiting Delta State used an 18-3 run late in the first half to take control, and they never looked back in a 74-42 Gulf South Conference West Division win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bucs (7-9, 0-3 GSC West) jumped out to a 7-2 lead with 17:55 remaining in the first half as
Tanaeya Worden (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North HS) knocked down a three-pointer, but DSU (13-5, 3-0) answered with the decisive 18-3 run, taking a 20-10 edge on a Tamara Reed bucket with 10 minutes remaining.
The Lady Bucs cut the lead back to five points on a
Katie Hume (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) three, but DSU went on a 32-12 run over the next 15 minutes to expand the lead to 52-27 with 13:07 to play, and CBU never came closer than 18 points again.
Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) led the Lady Bucs with 12 points. Worden added eight.
Moe Bell led four Lady Statesmen in double figures with 15 points. Bug Cooper scored 14 with eight assists, while former high school teammate Veronica Walker added 13 off the bench. LaMaesha McAdory had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Bucs shot a season-low 27.1 percent (13-of-48), while DSU shot 54.5 percent (24-of-44) from the floor.
The Lady Bucs will try to snap their three-game skid Thursday night as they host Harding at 5 p.m.
