Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs tied a school record with 14 three-pointers, but they dropped an 80-72 Gulf South Conference West Division game at Henderson State Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bucs (8-10, 1-4 GSC West) seized control midway through the first half, taking an eight-point lead into the locker room at halftime after they made nine three-pointers in the opening half. Junior guard
Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) scored 18 of her career-high 25 points in the first half.
The Lady Reddies (8-9, 2-3) went on a 30-11 run over the first 10:25 of the second half to take a 63-52 lead , their biggest of the night. The Lady Bucs trimmed the lead to two points, but HSU salted the game away at the free throw line in the final minute.
The Lady Bucs' 14 threes tied the school record set in 1999-2000 against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Wooten made four of the Lady Bucs' threes, while
Erin Nigh (Morristown, Ind./Morristown HS) also drained four threes on her way to 13 points.
Kat Butler (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS) dropped three treys with 11 points.
Katie Hume (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) knocked down two triples, and
Katie Quinton (Dresden, Tenn./Dresden HS) made one three.
Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg) added 10 points.
CBU's leading scorer on the year,
Tanaeya Worden (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North HS), missed the game due to an illness in her family.
Trenia Barbee led HSU with 16 points. Chanlee Bottoms scored 15, while Jazmine Ellis added 13.
The Lady Bucs committed 13 of their 22 turnovers in the second half, while they forced just 10 for the game. CBU out-rebounded the Lady Reddies 41-35, with a 16-13 edge on the offensive boards.
The Lady Bucs will return to Canale Arena Thursday night at 5 p.m. to take on Southern Arkansas.
