No. 1 UWF Overwhelms Lady Bucs 6-0

Libby Hake made eight saves, but No. 1 West Florida defeated the Lady Bucs 6-0 Saturday afternoon.
COLLIERVILLE—No. 1 West Florida left no doubt why they had earned their ranking Saturday afternoon at Collierville High School, overwhelming the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 6-0 in Gulf South Conference action.

The Argos (12-0, 3-0 GSC) used three first-half goals from Shakira Duncan to pull to a 4-0 lead at the intermission.  Duncan scored off a Shaneka Gordon assist in the 23rd minute to open the scoring, and she added another goal just a minute and a half later off a Marcela Franco assist.  Gordon fed Duncan again in the 40th minute to complete the hat trick, and Gordon completed the first-half scoring in the 41st minute when she scored off a Dernelle Mascall cross.

Shameka Gordon scored in the 50th minute, assisted by twin sister Shaneka, and Mascall scored the game's final goal unassisted in the 82nd minute.

The Argos out-shot the Lady Bucs (6-4, 1-2) 26-2 for the game, including a 14-0 margin in shots on goal.  Libby Hake (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury HS) made eight saves for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs will return to action Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they host Kentucky Wesleyan at Collierville.
