COLLIERVILLE—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs and Belhaven played to a 3-3 tie in double overtime Saturday afternoon at Collierville High School.
The Blazers (5-4-3) struck first as Dana Sullivan scored in the 17th minute on a cross from Krista Brizeno, and just 1:44 later, Nicole Trawick doubled the margin with an unassisted goal.
The Lady Bucs (6-4-1) answered in the 24th minute as
Lauren Froelich (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) scored on a rebound after she hit the post on her first shot.
Sarah Catherine Ryan (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) knotted the game in the 27th minute, and the score remained 2-2 the rest of the first half.
Christin Kaim scored on a one-on-one with CBU keeper
Christina Barone (Phoenix, Ariz./Cactus Shadows HS) after Trawick found her with a lead pass in the 49th minute.
Caitlyn Donegan (Thibodaux, La./E.D. White HS) converted another CBU rebound in the 80th minute after Belhaven keeper Jessica Eggold saved an
Anna Laskarzewska (Edmonton, Alberta/Archbishop O'Leary) free kick as Donegan found the loose ball at the right post and tapped it in.
From there, the defenses controlled the game as neither team put a shot on target again.
For the game, Belhaven out-shot the Lady Bucs 12-11, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Barone made three saves for the Lady Bucs, while Eggold made a pair of saves.
The Lady Bucs return to the field Wednesday night at 5 p.m. as they host Ouachita Baptist at Briarcrest High School.
