CARROLLTON, Ga.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs qualified for their second consecutive Gulf South Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win at West Georgia.
The Lady Bucs (9-5-1, 4-3 GSC) scored both goals late in the first half.
Marie Kvarnlof (Östersund, Sweden/Wargentins School) scored in the 35th minute, and
Lauren Froelich (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) doubled the lead in the 41st minute.
From there, CBU goalkeeper
Christina Barone (Phoenix, Ariz./Cactus Shadows HS) continued to dominate, making eight saves as she earned her fourth shutout of the season.
The Lady Bucs were out-shot 18-10, including an 8-6 margin in shots on goal.
With the win, the Lady Bucs clinch the fourth seed in next weekend's Gulf South Conference Tournament at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla. The Lady Bucs play Friday at 1:30 p.m. against No. 1 West Florida. No. 23 North Alabama, seeded second, will face Alabama-Huntsville in the other semifinal at 11 a.m.
The Lady Bucs conclude the regular season Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. as they visit Rhodes.
