No. 1 UWF Blanks Lady Bucs 6-0

Christina Barone made four saves in the first half, but the Lady Bucs dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 1 West Florida.
PENSACOLA, Fla.—No. 1 West Florida showed why they have been atop the national rankings for over a month as they rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla.

The Argos (18-0-0) scored the first goal just 1:12 into the game as Monica Malavassi scored off a Shakira Duncan cross.  The remainder of the half saw Duncan show off her finishing skills.  Shaneka Gordon fed her for goals in the 10th and 12th minutes, and Rachel Cutts assisted on her third goal in the 36th minute.  Duncan tacked on an unassisted goal, her 31st of the season, in the 42nd minute to give UWF a 5-0 lead at halftime.

The second half saw Jessica Majewski score off an assist by Shameka Gordon in the 60th minute, and neither team found the net again.

The Lady Bucs (9-6-2) were out-shot 15-2, including a 11-2 margin in shots on goal.

Christina Barone (Phoenix, Ariz./Cactus Shadows HS) made four saves in the first half.
