Balanced Lady Bucs Roll Past Lady Toppers 84-66

Katie Hume scored a career-high 16 points as the Lady Bucs won 84-66 over Blue Mountain Saturday afternoon.
Box Score MEMPHIS—Six Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs scored in double figures Saturday afternoon as they cruised to an 84-66 win over visiting Blue Mountain at Canale Arena.

After a back-and-forth first 12 minutes, the Lady Bucs (6-1) used a 21-3 run to take a 43-30 lead with 1:33 remaining in the first half on two Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) free throws.  Six players scored during the run for CBU.

After the Lady Toppers (5-6) trimmed the lead to 43-37 at halftime, a 15-2 run to start the second half put the game away, with CBU taking a 58-39 lead on a Jessica Green (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne HS) layup with 15:25 remaining.  BMC never came closer than 13 points again.

Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) led the Lady Bucs with 17 points, while Sheena DeBose (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort HS) and Katie Hume (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) scored 16 each, with Hume setting career highs in points and three-pointers made with four.  DeBose tied her career high of 15 rebounds set in Monday's win over Alabama-Huntsville.  Jessica Green (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne HS) scored a career-high 13 off the bench, while Ellis and Johnson scored 10 each.  Ellis added eight rebounds, four blocks, three steals, and three assists.

Jessi Hayles led Blue Mountain with 16 points in 11 minutes off the bench.  Katelynn Wright scored 12, while Joy Pierce added 11.

The Lady Bucs shot 46.5 percent (33-of-71) from the floor, including 24 percent (6-of-25) from three-point range.  Blue Mountain was 35.4 percent (23-of-65) from the floor and 32.4 percent (11-of-34) from beyond the arc.

The Lady Bucs out-rebounded Blue Mountain 47-35, including a 19-13 edge on the offensive boards, and they forced 23 turnovers while committing 19.

The Lady Bucs will have a week before their next game, Saturday, Dec. 12, at West Alabama at 4 p.m.  Their next home game is Saturday, Dec. 19, against LeMoyne-Owen at 2 p.m.
