Box Score MEMPHIS—Visiting Ouachita Baptist made 21 of 24 second-half free throws as they won 66-59 over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday night at Canale Arena.
After a tight first 15 minutes, the Lady Tigers (16-6, 5-4 GSC West) took the lead for good on a quick 5-0 spurt featuring a Tamara Robinson fastbreak layup and a Gabby Coleman three-pointer.
The Lady Bucs (8-14, 1-8) never regained the lead. The margin stayed between two and seven points well into the second half, but Ouachita used an 8-0 run to stretch out a 41-29 lead with 13:08 remaining. Back-to-back three-pointers by
Katie Hume (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) and
Erin Nigh (Morristown, Ind./Morristown HS) sparked a 10-1 run that pulled the Lady Bucs back within three points, but the Lady Tigers went on a 14-5 run to stretch the lead back out to 56-44 with three minutes remaining.
Crystal Shelton (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg) scored a game-high 21 for the Lady Bucs, while Nigh added 10.
OBU placed four players in double figures, led by A'Laeshia Adams' 15. Haley Griffin and Gabby Coleman scored 14, while Domino Miller added 10.
The Lady Bucs will hit the road Saturday at 4 p.m. as they visit Delta State. Their next home game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, against Henderson State.
