COLLIERVILLE—Sophomore forward Sarah Catherine Ryan (Memphis, Tenn., St. Agnes Academy) scored a 67th-minute goal to lift the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to a 1-0 victory over Delta State Wednesday night in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.

The Lady Bucs (6-2, 1-0 GSC) dominated the flow of the game throughout, but Delta State (3-4, 0-1) goalkeeper Samantha Le Jeune thwarted the Lady Bucs at every turn, making 11 saves.

Ryan broke the drought with just over 23 minutes to play as she beat a pair of defenders and found the corner of the net.  From there, the Lady Bucs held on for the win, with Christina Barone (Phoenix, Ariz./Cactus Shadows HS) making four saves.

The Lady Bucs out-shot Delta 23-7 for the game, including a 13-4 lead in shots on goal.

The Lady Bucs return to the field next Tuesday night at 6 p.m. as they host No. 25 North Alabama.
