Lady Bucs Rally Past Lady Bisons 65-58

Tameka Wooten scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Lady Bucs to a 65-58 win at Harding Thursday night.
Box Score SEARCY, Ark.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs out-scored host Harding 51-30 over the final 24 minutes as they rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to win 65-58 Thursday night to even their Gulf South Conference West Division record at 2-2.

The Lady Bisons (8-8, 1-3) looked to be in full control late in the first half as a 16-4 run gave them a 28-14 lead with 4:15 remaining on a Bailey St. Clair free throw.  The Lady Bucs (11-5, 2-2) began their comeback with a Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) layup.  Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) followed with four straight free throws.  After an Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) three-pointer and a Marissa Stewart (Atlanta, Ga./Arlington Christian HS) basket, the Lady Bucs were back within three points.

A 12-0 run in the second half bookended by three-pointers from Wooten and Johnson gave the Lady Bucs their first lead since 2-0 as Judson's second three-pointer of the game gave CBU a 49-47 lead with 7:49 remaining.  Johnson's three-pointer a possession later made it a five-point game, but Harding came back to tie the game at 58 on two Sierra Rollins free throws with 3:21 remaining.

After nearly two minutes of scoreless basketball, Wooten put the Lady Bucs in front for good as she buried a three-pointer from the left corner.  The Lady Bucs shut Harding out on their final six possessions as they made four free throws to stretch the lead out over the final 40 seconds.

Wooten scored a game-high 21 for the Lady Bucs to go with a game-high seven assists, while Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) grabbed 15 rebounds to go with 12 points and four blocks.  Johnson had six assists with no turnovers along with seven points.  All five CBU starters recorded two steals.

Stacey Owens led Harding with 10 points.  St. Clair added nine, while Rollins and Danielle Reiher scored seven each.

Harding out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 39-33, but the Lady Bucs forced 19 turnovers while committing 16.

The Lady Bucs will try to make it two wins in a row Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as they host Henderson State.
