Lady Bucs Can't Get Over Hump in 82-74 Loss

Aramis Judson scored a career-high 20 points, but the Lady Bucs lost 82-74 at Alabama-Huntsville Monday night.
Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Host Alabama-Huntsville used an 11-0 run bridging the halftime break to stretch out a double-digit lead, and they never allowed the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs closer than eight points again as they won 82-74 Monday night.

The first 18 minutes saw a back-and-forth game where neither team led by more than seven, with five ties and four lead changes.  The Lady Bucs (4-2) had cut the margin back to 35-34 on a Sheena DeBose (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort HS) layup with 2:23 remaining in the first half.  UAH (2-3) answered with back-to-back three-pointers by Candace Lee and Jasmine Hammon to end the first half.  A Hammon three-pointer followed by an Andrea Bennett basket early in the second half pushed the margin to 46-34 with 18:24 remaining.

The Lady Bucs cut the margin back to single digits four times, but UAH answered each time to preserve the win.

DeBose scored a career-high 26 points, and Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) scored a career-high 20 as she made six of eight three-pointers.  Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) grabbed 11 rebounds and tied her career high with 12 assists.  She also had 12 assists in both meetings against UAH last season.

Lee led UAH with 25 points as all five starters scored in double figures.  Janie Graves had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Bennett scored 12.  Hammon and Jordan Smith tacked on 11 each.

The Lady Bucs shot 39.1 percent (27-of-69) from the floor and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) at the free throw line, while UAH shot 38.2 percent (26-of-68) overall.  UAH made 37.9 percent (11-of-29) of their three-pointers to the Lady Bucs' 32 percent (8-of-25), and UAH was 67.9 percent (19-of-28) at the free throw line.

UAH out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 48-42 and forced 19 turnovers while committing 17.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit North Alabama.
