Lions Eliminate Lady Bucs 2-0

Libby Hake made nine saves, but the Lady Bucs dropped a 2-0 decision to North Alabama Friday in the GSC Tournament semifinals.
PENSACOLA, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs' defense held up well for most of Friday's Gulf South Conference semifinal against second-seeded North Alabama, but the Lions capitalized on pair of critical mistakes to win 2-0 and advance to the GSC Championship match for the second consecutive year.

After CBU (11-5) goalkeeper Libby Hake (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury HS) made saves on the first three UNA (16-3) shots, two Lady Bucs failed to clear a loose ball in the box in the 44th minute, giving the Lions a 2-on-1 against Hake.  Hake turned aside the first shot, from Nikki Brown, but Heather Farmer put the second shot in the net.

The story repeated itself in the 76th minute as the Lady Bucs failed to clear another ball, giving UNA's Chloe Roberts an open look at the net.  Roberts scored her 27th goal of the season to put the game away.

Hake finished with nine saves, tied for the fourth-most in a game in school history, and Roma Rozanska (Edmonton, Alberta/Archbishop O'Leary HS) also earned a team save by deflecting a shot just past the post for a corner.  The Lady Bucs were out-shot 28-5, including a 12-2 margin in shots on goal.
