Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs shot 35.1 percent from the floor as they dropped a 77-67 decision to visiting West Alabama Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
The Tigers (6-2) led nearly the entire game, but the Lady Bucs (4-5) kept the lead within striking distance, never trailing by more than 12.
After falling behind 69-57 on a Dakota Powell three-pointer with 3:15 remaining, the Lady Bucs cut the lead back to 71-65 when
Marissa Stewart (Atlanta, Ga./Arlington Christian HS) buried a triple with 37 seconds remaining, but UWA was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line to seal the victory.
Stewart and
Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) paced the Lady Bucs with 16 points each. Stewart grabbed seven rebounds, while Johnson had four assists.
Briley Milfeld (Farmington, Mo./Farmington HS) scored 14, and
Sheena DeBose (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort HS) added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Mystee Dale led UWA with 22 points as well as 10 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. Latashia Greer scored 21 with 11 rebounds, and Larrenda Rockwell added 13.
The Lady Bucs shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) for the game to the Tigers' 42.4 percent (28-of-66). UWA out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 46-34 and forced 11 turnovers while committing nine.
The Lady Bucs close out their 2010 schedule next weekend as they host Blue Mountain Saturday at 2 p.m. before visiting LeMoyne-Owen Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.
