Lady Tigers Put Away Lady Bucs 87-68

Tameka Wooten scored 24 points, but the Lady Bucs lost 87-68 at Ouachita Baptist Thursday night.
Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Host Ouachita Baptist out-scored the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 17-5 over the final 5:13 as they pulled away for an 87-68 Gulf South Conference West Division win over the Lady Bucs Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers (11-11, 3-6 GSC West) never trailed as they used a 26-9 first-half run to build an 18-point lead on a Beulah Osueke layup with 5:36 remaining in the first half.

The Lady Bucs (14-7, 5-4) cut the lead back to single digits for most of the second half, coming as close as 65-60 on a Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) free throw with 6:48 remaining, but A'Laeshia Adams scored five straight points to push the lead back to 10.  After a Katie Hume (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) three-pointer cut the lead back to seven, Ouachita put it away with the game-ending 17-5 run.

Wooten scored 24 points to lead the Lady Bucs, while Sheena DeBose (Tunica, Miss./Rosa Fort HS) and Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) scored 13 each.  DeBose added 11 rebounds and a block.

Gabby Coleman led OBU with 25, while Adams scored 19.  Osueke and Angela Colliver scored 11 each.

OBU out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 55-33, including a 23-9 margin in offensive boards.

The Lady Bucs shot 37.7 percent (23-of-61) from the floor, while Ouachita was 39.2 percent (29-of-74).

The Lady Bucs return to the court Saturday as they host No. 12 Delta State at 2 p.m.  Former Lady Buc guard Jackie Moore, who passed away tragically this fall, will be honored at halftime.
