Box Score MEMPHIS—For the first three minutes of Thursday night's key Gulf South Conference West Division game against Harding, the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs looked as if they had shaken off the sting of three straight double-digit losses, building a quick 7-0 lead as they dominated in all phases of the game.
But the Lady Bisons (13-10, 6-5 GSC West) dominated the remaining 37 minutes, out-scoring the Lady Bucs (14-9, 5-6) 73-29 the rest of the way to win 73-36 and claim sole possession of third place in the GSC West with three games remaining.
Tameka Wooten (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) was the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Bucs with 13 points, and
Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) reuturned to the lineup after missing two games with an ankle injury, blocking a game-high four shots.
Stacey Owens led Harding with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Lindsey Root, Danielle Reiher, and Meaghen Kellybrew added 10 points each.
Harding collected 16 steals as a team, including five from Bailey St. Clair, as they turned 21 CBU turnovers into 22 points. The Lady Bucs forced 20 turnovers, but they only converted them into 10 points. Harding also held a commanding 50-26 edge in rebounds.
The Lady Bucs shot just 23.2 percent (13-of-56) from the floor, including 20.7 percent (6-of-29) from three-point range. Harding shot 50 percent (27-of-54) overall and 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from beyond the arc.
The Lady Bucs will try to snap their four-game skid Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as they visit Henderson State.
