COLLIERVILLE—Visiting Lyon scored three goals in the second half as they cruised to a 4-0 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in the season opener for both teams Friday night at Collierville High School.
The Scots (1-0) struck first with a Creeia Nuckols goal in the 37th minute. Katie Smith doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, and late goals by Jordan Aliviado in the 72nd minute and Katie Marshall in the 74th minute put it out of reach.
For the game, Lyon out-shot CBU (0-1) 20-11, including an 11-3 lead in shots on goal.
Libby Hake (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury HS) made seven saves for the Lady Bucs in the season opener.
The Lady Bucs head to St. Petersburg, Fla., next weekend. Friday, they face Eckerd at 7:30 p.m., and they play Lynn at Eckerd Sunday at 11 a.m. The Lady Bucs' return to Signaigo Field is set for Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., which will be the first game played at Signaigo since the Bucs' 2-0 win over Crichton Nov. 1, 2008.
