Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—No. 3 Arkansas Tech scored the game's first eight points and never looked back in a 95-40 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night.
The Golden Suns (3-0) shot 63.8 percent (37-of-58) for the game, including 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from three-point range as they wasted little time building an insurmountable lead.
Amber Williams (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) put her name in the CBU (1-3) record books as she grabbed 16 rebounds, one shy of the school record set by the late Jackie Moore in 2005. She also scored eight points with two steals and a block.
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) scored a team-high 10, and
Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) added eight in her first start.
Natalia Santos scored a game-high 23 for the Golden Suns, while Roselis Silva narrowly missed a triple-double with 14 points, 11 steals, and nine assists in 24 minutes. Samanta Ludwig scored 11, and Katie Horsman added 10.
The Lady Bucs' shooting struggles continued as they shot 28.6 percent (16-of-56) from the floor and were 0-for-12 from three-point range, their first game without a triple since Feb. 27, 2003 at Arkansas-Monticello.
The Lady Bucs committed a season-high 32 turnovers while forcing 17, but they grabbed 14 offensive rebounds as they tied the Golden Suns 34-34 on the boards.
The Lady Bucs hit the road this weekend for a 1 p.m. game Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis. They face the Golden Suns again next Tuesday night at 5 p.m. at Canale Arena.
