Lady Bucs Fall 82-51 to No. 2 ATU

Jasmine Ellis scored a team-high 13 points with eight rebounds and four blocks in the Lady Bucs' 82-51 loss to No. 2 Arkansas Tech.
Box Score MEMPHIS—No. 2 Arkansas Tech used a 20-4 run early in the first half to put away any hopes of an upset in an 82-51 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night at Canale Arena.

After a Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) triple brought the Lady Bucs (1-5) within one point at 6-5 with 16:34 remaining, ATU (5-0) went on the decisive run, sparked by a Jessica Weatherford bucket and capped by a Natalia Santos fastbreak layup.  ATU scored nine fastbreak points on the 20-4 run.  The Lady Bucs never came closer than 16 points again.

Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) led the Lady Bucs with 13 points to go with eight rebounds and four blocks.  Amber Williams (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) swatted four shots also and grabbed a team-high 11 boards, while Adrienne McKay (Olive Branch, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored a career-high 11 off the bench.  The Lady Bucs' team total of 11 blocks were the second-most in school history, one off the record set in 2006 against Ouachita Baptist.

Lily Abreu led the Golden Suns with 15 points and six steals, while Santos and Weatherford had 14 points each.

The Lady Bucs' shooting woes continued as they were just 28.6 percent (18-of-63) from the floor to the Golden Suns' 45.3 percent (29-of-64).  ATU out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 51-35 and forced 23 turnovers while committing 19.

The Lady Bucs will look to snap their three-game skid Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Rust.
