No. 5 Golden Suns Overwhelm Lady Bucs 103-32

Normanique Johnson scored nine points with five assists in the Lady Bucs' 103-32 loss at No. 5 Arkansas Tech Monday night.
Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.—No. 5 Arkansas Tech used a 23-0 first-half run to put all hopes of an upset to rest early on their way to a 103-32 win over the injury-depleted Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs.

With just six healthy players due to a rash of injuries, the Lady Bucs (8-14, 1-9 GSC West) couldn't keep up with a deep Arkansas Tech (20-2, 9-1) squad.  The Lady Bucs kept the game close in the first seven minutes, trailing 14-7 before ATU rattled off 23 straight to build a 37-7 first half lead and take total control of the game.

The Golden Suns were the first team to score 100 points against CBU since ATU won 103-54 in Russellville in 1999.

Normanique Johnson (Olive Branch, Miss./Olive Branch HS) led the Lady Bucs with nine points and five assists.  Casey Gregory (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added eight.

Jenny Vining paced the Golden Suns with 20 points, while fellow All-GSC performer Natalia Santos had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Samanta Ludwig added 12 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.  ATU tied a school record with 60 rebounds.

The Lady Bucs shot just 20.7 percent (12-of-58) from the floor, while ATU, the NCAA leader for field goal percentage in all divisions, shot 57.5 percent (42-of-73) overall.

The Lady Bucs come home Thursday night at 5 p.m. to take on Ouachita Baptist, who is in third place in the GSC West, and they finish the week Saturday at fourth-place Harding.
