Box Score FLORENCE, Ala.—Host North Alabama hit .346 as a team on their way to a three-set win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools.
The Lions (10-2, 1-0 GSC) led for nearly all of the opening set, but the Lady Bucs (10-3, 0-1) stayed within striking distance, coming within a point at 24-23 before UNA's Jessica Ronyak ended the set with a kill. The Lions scored the first six points in the second set en route to a 25-13 win, and they jumped to a quick 9-3 lead on their way to a 25-17 win in the third and final set.
Hailey Gillis (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll HS) paced the Lady Bucs with 11 kills, while
Corinne Doder (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) logged a match-best 14 digs.
Kelsey Miles (Cordova, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 24 assists.
Natalie Marsh and Priscilla Massengale led UNA with 11 kills each, while setter Caroline Neisler added 38 assists. Ronyak led the Lions with 13 digs.
The Lady Bucs come home this weekend as they welcome two-time defending GSC champion West Florida to Canale Arena for the first time Friday night at 7 p.m. They host incoming GSC member New Orleans Saturday at 1 p.m.
