Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs edged visiting West Alabama 50-49 in the final minute Thursday night to earn their first Gulf South Conference win of the season.

The Lady Bucs (4-11, 1-2 GSC) trailed by single digits for most of the second half, but they knotted the game with 54 seconds remaining on an Adrienne McKay (Olive Branch, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) jumper from the baseline.  After UWA (6-8, 1-2) guard Brittany Weathers missed a jumper on the other end, she fouled Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) on the rebound.  Pugh made the first of two free throws to put the Lady Bucs ahead, and the rebound of the second went out of bounds off UWA.  Pugh was fouled again with 16 seconds remaining, and she again made one of two free throws to push the edge to 48-46.

UWA missed two shots on their ensuing possession before calling timeout after an offensive rebound with six seconds to play.  Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) stole the inbounds pass in the backcourt for a fastbreak layup to seal the victory for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs led for most of a defense-oriented first half, but an 11-0 run put UWA ahead 29-22 with 13:32 remaining.  A Jessica Green (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne HS) three-pointer stopped the bleeding, and the Lady Bucs steadily cut into the lead to set up the last-minute heroics.

Ellis logged game-highs of 16 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks in 31 minutes.  McKay scored nine with a game-high four assists, and Green added eight.
Nikkia Jordan led UWA with 13 points, and Keiara Middleton scored 10.  The Lady Bucs held Weathers, the fourth-leading scorer in the GSC, to eight points on 2-of-19 shooting.  Weathers also grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds.

The Lady Bucs held UWA to 29 percent (18-of-62) for the game, including just 17.2 percent (5-of-29) in the first half.  The Lady Bucs shot 37.5 percent (18-of-48) overall, including 50 percent (12-of-24) in the second half.  UWA out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 40-37, including a 14-7 edge in offensive boards, and the Lady Bucs committed 18 turnovers while forcing 16.

The Lady Bucs will look to even their GSC record Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host West Georgia.
