Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs tied the school record for blocks in a game and held visiting North Alabama to 20.3 percent from the floor in a 51-42 win Thursday night at Canale Arena as they moved into a tie for fourth place in the Gulf South Conference.

After three ties and two lead changes in the first six minutes, the Lady Bucs (5-12, 2-3 GSC) exploded for a 15-0 run and never trailed again.  Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) started the run with a three-pointer to put the Lady Bucs in front 10-9 with 13:45 remaining in the half, and she found Jessica Green (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne HS) for a three-pointer on the fastbreak to extend the lead.  A Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) fastbreak triple pushed the lead to 16-9, and back-to-back scores in the paint from Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) extended the lead to double figures.  Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) capped the run with another score in the paint, giving the Lady Bucs a 22-9 lead with 9:01 remaining in the half.

UNA (10-6, 2-3) trimmed the lead back to 27-25 early in the second half, but the Lady Bucs answered with a 10-2 burst sparked by an Adrienne McKay (Olive Branch, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) fastbreak layup and capped by a Green triple that put the Lady Bucs in front 37-27.  UNA never came closer than six points again.

Green scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Bucs, while Ellis added nine points with 12 rebounds and four blocks.  Pugh swatted six shots, tied for second-most in a game in school history, to go with six points and four rebounds.  McKay added eight with seven rebounds.

Jasmine Horne led the Lions with 13 points, while Nichelle Fillmore scored eight.

The Lady Bucs shot 37 percent (17-of-46) overall, but they shot a season-best 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from three-point range, led by Green's 3-of-5.  The Lions shot 20.3 percent (14-of-69) overall and an even 20 percent (4-of-20) from three-point range.  UNA out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 46-40, including a 21-7 offensive rebound advantage, and they forced 23 CBU turnovers while committing 19.

The Lady Bucs hit the road Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. to visit Alabama-Huntsville.  Their next home game is Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. against Delta State.  DSU and UAH are currently tied for first place.
