Lady Tigers Pull Away From Lady Bucs 67-48

Gabrielle Hernandez scored nine points on perfect shooting, but the Lady Bucs lost 67-48 at Ouachita Baptist Monday afternoon.
Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Host Ouachita Baptist used a 14-3 run early in the second half to pull away to a 67-48 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Monday afternoon in the Lady Bucs' final non-conference game of the season.

After the Lady Tigers (7-3) took a 34-28 lead into the locker room at halftime after a first half with five ties and four lead changes, they pounded the ball inside to Tamara Robinson for three straight buckets to start the decisive run early in the second half.  Two more jumpers in the paint and four free throws extended their lead to 48-31, and the Lady Bucs (3-9) never came closer than 13 points again.

Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) paced the Lady Bucs with 11 points, and Gabrielle Hernandez (Memphis, Tenn./Cordova HS) scored nine points in seven minutes as she was 3-of-3 from the floor, including a three-pointer, and 2-of-2 at the free throw line.  Amber Williams (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) grabbed 14 rebounds.

Robinson, Nashia James, and Erica Sharp led OBU with 10 points each.

The Lady Bucs shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) for the game overall and 50 percent (12-of-24) at the free throw line.  OBU was 38.2 percent (26-of-68) and held a 49-39 rebound edge.  Each team committed 22 turnovers.

The Lady Bucs make their longest trip of the season this weekend as they open GSC play Thursday night at West Florida.  They visit Valdosta State Saturday night, with both games at 5 p.m., before returning home Thursday, Jan. 12, against West Alabama at 5 p.m.
