Lady Chargers Top Lady Bucs 76-58

Adrienne McKay scored a career-high 18 points, but the Lady Bucs lost 76-58 at Alabama-Huntsville Sunday afternoon.
Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—First-place Alabama-Huntsville used a 21-2 run late in the first half to blow open what had been a close game on their way to a 76-58 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Chargers (14-3, 5-1 GSC) never trailed, but the Lady Bucs (5-13, 2-4) stayed within striking distance for the first 13 minutes, as an Adrienne McKay (Olive Branch, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) basket cut the UAH lead to 27-22 with 7:04 remaining in the first half.  But the Lady Chargers would score on four straight possessions twice over the next six minutes in the 21-2 run, sparked by a Bailee Robinson three-pointer and capped by a pair of Morgan Duncan free throws that left the Lady Chargers ahead 48-24 with 1:05 remaining in the first half.  The Lady Bucs never came closer than 16 points in the second half.

McKay scored a career-high 18 to pace the Lady Bucs, adding five rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes.  Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) scored 11 points, and Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) added 10 with four blocks.  Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) collected a career-high eight steals, tied for the second-most in a game in school history.  Stephanie Stewart holds the record with nine steals against West Alabama in 2000.

Jasmine Hammon paced the Lady Chargers with 27 points and 10 rebounds.  Robinson scored 15 with eight rebounds and five assists, and Jordan Smith added 13.

UAH took advantage of a large margin in scoring chances, as they out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 46-34 and forced 26 turnovers while committing 20.  Both teams were cold from the floor, with UAH shooting 37.1 percent (23-of-62) to the Lady Bucs' 37.0 percent (20-of-54).

The Lady Bucs wrap up the first half of the GSC schedule Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Delta State.
