Adrienne McKay scored a team-high nine points in the Lady Bucs' 47-38 loss at West Florida Thursday night.
Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs tied a school record with 12 blocked shots, but host West Florida used strong free throw shooting to claim a 47-38 win in the Gulf South Conference opener for both schools on a night where both teams shot less than 30 percent overall.

The Argos (5-8, 1-0 GSC) appeared on the verge of breaking the game open early, as an 11-2 run put them ahead 19-11 on a Sher'Ryan Scott three-pointer with 6:38 remaining in the first half.  The Lady Bucs (3-10, 0-1) steadily chipped away at the lead, eventually taking a 34-30 lead of their own on a steal and fastbreak layup by Adrienne McKay (Olive Branch, Miss./Briarcrest Christian HS) with 10:30 remaining.

From that point, however, the Lady Bucs went cold again, scoring just four points in the final 10 minutes on 1-of-12 shooting overall and 2-of-6 at the free throw line.  The Argos were 13-of-16 at the free throw line over the final 10 minutes to close the game on a 17-4 run despite cold shooting of their own.

McKay scored a team-high nine points for the Lady Bucs, while Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored eight in her first career start.  Amber Williams (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and led the block party with four.  Pugh swatted three shots, and Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) and Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) each blocked a pair of shots.

Scott led the Argos with 20 points, followed by Hanna Vette and Kelseigh Hughes with seven each.  Vette garnered a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Lady Bucs held UWF to 26.9 percent (14-of-52) from the floor overall, but the Lady Bucs shot just 24.1 percent (13-of-54).  The Argos were 70.8 percent (17-of-24) at the free throw line to the Lady Bucs' 50 percent (8-of-16).  UWF out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 48-38, and they committed 18 turnovers to the Lady Bucs' 17.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday night at 5 p.m. when they make their first-ever trip to Valdosta State.  Their next home game is set for 5 p.m. Thursday night against West Alabama.
