Lady Bucs Edge Delta 1-0

Kristen Guidry scored the only goal in the Lady Bucs' 1-0 win over Delta State Friday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs edged Delta State 1-0 Friday night on a 73rd-minute goal by freshman Kristen Guidry (Lafayette, La., St. Thomas More HS).

Neither team could find the net in the first half, and the Lady Bucs (5-6) put the pressure on early in the second half.  On a corner kick in the 73rd minute, Jennifer Hale (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) put a header off the crossbar, narrowly missing a goal.  Just a few seconds later, Alex Bickenbach (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) stole the ball from a Delta State (2-8-1) defender and sent a cross into Guidry in the middle of the box.  Guidry fired a quick shot to the middle of the net for the night's only score.

For the game, the Lady Bucs out-shot DSU 12-4, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.  Libby Hake (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury HS) made the save on the only shot she faced, earning her second shutout in a row.

The Lady Bucs' game originally scheduled for Tuesday night against Lyon has been canceled.  Their next game is Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Alabama-Huntsville.  Their next home game is Sunday, Oct. 14, against Union at 1 p.m.
