Samantha Reeves scored nine points with eight rebounds and four blocks in the Lady Bucs' 56-55 win over Missouri-St. Louis Tuesday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs held visiting Missouri-St. Louis to just five points on their final 10 possessions as they rallied from an eight-point deficit to win 56-55 Tuesday night at Canale Arena.

The Tritons (1-1) led for much of the early going, using an early 11-0 run to open a 17-9 lead with 11:34 remaining in the first half.  The Lady Bucs (1-2) ended the first half on an 11-0 run, capped by a Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) triple as time expired to take a 26-24 lead into the locker room.

The Tritons seemed to take control with a 16-4 run over a five-minute stretch, building a 44-36 lead with 10:59 remaining on an Alexis Lawrence three-pointer.  After CBU cut the lead back to 44-42, the Tritons scored six straight points to extend their lead back to eight opints at 50-42 on a pair of Hazaria Washington free throws with 6:35 remaining.

From there, though, the Lady Bucs' defense clamped down, holding UMSL to just two putbacks and a free throw over the final six minutes.  Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) started the comeback on a jumper with 6:20 remaining, and she scored the final six points, including four straight free throws, two with 1:38 remaining to tie the game and two more with 1:25 remaining to give CBU a 56-54 lead.  Washington made one of two free throws with 1:10 remaining for the game's final point as the Lady Bucs held UMSL to a pair of misses in the final minute.

Ridgell led the Lady Bucs with a game-high 18 points to go with five rebounds.  Clear scored 11, and Sarah Combs (Bradford, Tenn./Bradford HS) tacked on 10 with six rebounds.  Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) added nine points, eight rebounds, and four blocks in 27 minutes off the bench.

Washington finished with 17 and a game-high 10 rebounds for UMSL.  Lawrence added 11.

The Lady Bucs shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53) to UMSL's 35.1 percent (20-of-57), and the Lady Bucs were 85.7 percent (12-of-14) at the free throw line to UMSL's 55 percent (11-of-20).  The Lady Bucs out-rebounded the Tritons 38-37 but committed 18 turnovers while forcing 15, and UMSL grabbed 18 offensive boards to the Lady Bucs' 13.

The Lady Bcus return to action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they welcome Arkansas-Monticello.
