Box Score MEMPHIS—Host Rhodes used an 18-5 edge in points off turnovers to claim a 71-62 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night.
The Lynx (5-0) opened the game on a 23-5 run and never let the Lady Bucs (2-4) come closer than seven points again in the first half. In the second half, the Lady Bucs used three straight
Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) three-pointers as part of a 12-0 run to come within a point at 48-47 with 8:22 remaining, but Rhodes answered with a 14-2 run to extend their lead back to 64-51 with 3:48 remaining, and the Lady Bucs never came closer than the final margin of nine points again.
Clear scored a team-high 13 for the Lady Bucs, while
Sarah Combs (Bradford, Tenn./Bradford HS) scored 12 and
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) added 11.
Tennessee transfer Lauren Avant led the Lynx with 24 points, eight steals, seven rebounds, and five assists. Sarah Johnson scored 14, and Catherine Eckert added 12.
The Lady Bucs shot 40.8 percent (20-of-49) to the Lynx's 38.5 percent (25-of-65). Rhodes forced 23 CBU turnovers while committing just nine.
The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they visit Lane. Their next home game is Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m. against Harding.
