Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.—Sophomore guard
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn., White Station HS) posted career-highs of 30 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to a 79-60 win at Lane Saturday afternoon for their first road win of the season.
The host Lady Dragons (2-3) seized an early lead as a 16-3 run capped by a Marissa Stewart triple gave them a 22-11 lead with 9:51 remaining in the half, but the Lady Bucs (3-4) answered with a 17-3 run of their own, taking a 28-25 lead on a pair of
Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) free throws with 3:49 remaining in the half.
The Lady Bucs closed the game on a 24-7 run, finally pulling away after Lane had cut the lead to two points several times, last at 55-53 with 7:26 remaining.
Ridgell scored her 30 points on 12-of-21 shooting, 2-of-5 from three-point range, and 4-of-5 at the free throw line. She grabbed nine of her 11 rebounds on the offensive end, and she added seven steals, one off her career high. Samantha Reeves scored 12 with seven rebounds for the Lady Bucs.
Stewart led Lane with 16 points, while SeQoya Cox scored 12 and Cellonda Crawford added 11.
The Lady Bucs shot a season-high 47.6 percent (30-of-63) from the floor overall but a season-low 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from three-point range. The Lady Bucs out-rebounded Lane 49-35 and forced 28 turnovers while committing 26.
The Lady Bucs return to action Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m. as they host Harding in their final game before Christmas break.
