Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss.—Host Delta State opened the game on a 31-7 run and never allowed the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs back into the game Saturday afternoon on their way to an 88-45 win that wrapped up the Gulf South Conference regular-season crown.
The Lady Statesmen (20-5, 12-2) out-rebounded the Lady Bucs (5-21, 2-12) 52-26 for the game, including a 22-8 edge in offensive rebounds, and they forced 22 CBU turnovers while committing 13. In addition, they shot 47.9 percent (34-of-71) to the Lady Bucs' 35.4 percent (17-of-48).
Amber Williams (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) and
Aramis Judson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) scored a team-high 10 points each for the Lady Bucs, and
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added nine.
Veronica Walker led DSU with 21 points. Seneca Walton scored 17, and Rhandi Ball added 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The Lady Bucs will meet Delta State again in the quarterfinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament Thursday in Niceville, Fla. Game times will be announced tomorrow.
