Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala.—Host West Alabama held the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to 16 percent shooting in the second half as they pulled away to a 53-39 win Thursday night in Gulf South Conference play.
The Tigers (8-13, 3-7 GSC) led for most of the first half, but a
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) three-pointer with eight seconds remaining in the first half trimmed the UWA lead to 25-23. The Tigers opened the second half on a 10-2 run, and the Lady Bucs (5-17, 2-8) never came closer than seven points again.
Jasmine Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) posted team-highs of 12 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Bucs, and
Sarah Combs (Bradford, Tenn./Bradford HS) added six points.
Nikkia Jordan led UWA with 23 points, and Danielle Cole added eight.
The Lady Bucs shot just 28.3 percent (13-of-46) for the game, including 4-of-25 in the second half. UWA was 34.0 percent (18-of-53) overall. The Lady Bucs out-rebounded UWA 40-37, with each team grabbing 10 offensive boards. UWA forced 24 CBU turnovers while committing 16.
The Lady Bucs visit West Georgia Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Their final home game of the season is set for Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. against Alabama-Huntsville.
