Lady Bucs Outlast Lady Hawks in Overtime

The Lady Bucs celebrated their first GSC win of the year Sunday afternoon with Allison Tutt's overtime game-winner against Shorter.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rallied from a 2-1 deficit late in the second half and eventually won in overtime Sunday afternoon against visiting Shorter.

The Lady Bucs (3-3, 1-2 GSC) took an early lead when Mallory Geraci (New Orleans, La./Mount Carmel Academy) bounced a shot in off the left post in the sixth minute after collecting a pass from Mariana Tonelli (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School).  The Lady Hawks (1-5, 0-2) took the lead early in the second half when Brandi Greenwald scored back-to-back goals just three minutes apart.  First, the Lady Bucs failed to clear a corner kick in the 54th minute, allowing Greenwald to score with a quick strike into the right side of the net.  Three minutes later, Kelli Davis sent a cross to Greenwald at the top of the box, and she again found the right side of the net to give Shorter a 2-1 edge.

The Lady Bucs would equalize in the 80th minute, when Kristen Guidry (Lafayette, La./St. Thomas More HS) headed in a free kick from Maddie Cobb (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School), sending the game to overtime.  In the 99th minute, Allison Tutt (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS)'s corner kick carried Shorter keeper Katie Stachula into the net for the game-winner.

The Lady Bucs out-shot Shorter 15-5 for the game, including an 8-3 lead in shots on goal.

The Lady Bucs play their next four on the road, beginning with a 7:30 tilt against West Florida Friday night at 7:30 p.m.  Their next home game will be Friday night, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m. against Delta State.
