Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala.—Host West Alabama used a goal and two assists from Nicki Gears to claim a 3-1 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Sunday afternoon.
Gears helped put the Tigers (4-3-1, 2-1-1 GSC) on the board in the ninth minute, when she fed a cross to Lydia Sutcliffe for the game's first goal. Gears scored the Tigers' next goal in the 25th minute, assisted by Natalie Perry, to give UWA a 2-0 cushion.
Katelyn Graham (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) pulled the Lady Bucs (3-5, 1-4) within a goal in the 77th minute, when she scored off an
Emily Smith (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) cross. The Tigers would set the final margin in the 86th minute, when Gears found Hakima Amerg for another goal.
UWA out-shot the Lady Bucs 8-6 for the game, with each team putting five shots on target.
The Lady Bucs return to action Friday night at 6 p.m., when they visit North Alabama. Their next home game is Friday, Oct. 5, against Delta State at 5 p.m.
