Lady Bucs Down Lady Blazers 60-52

Taylor Pugh posted career-highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Lady Bucs' 60-52 win at Valdosta State Thursday night.
Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga.—The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs started the second half with a 17-4 run and never allowed host Valdosta State back into the game as they picked up their second straight win, 60-52, Thursday night.

The Lady Bucs (5-11, 2-6 GSC) closed the first half on an 8-2 burst to take a 28-24 halftime lead, and sophomore forward Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored eight of her career-high 19 points consecutively to cap the 17-4 second-half burst and give the Lady Bucs a 45-28 lead with 9:45 remaining in the game.  VSU never came closer than eight points again.

Pugh scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half, shooting 6-of-8 overall and 7-of-10 at the free throw line.  She added a career-best 12 rebounds for her first double-double at CBU.  In all, Pugh scored 17 of the Lady Bucs' 23 points over the final 15:19.  Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) and Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored 12 each.

Courtney Sprague led the Lady Blazers (10-6, 3-5) with 14 points.

The Lady Bucs shot 38.2 percent (21-of-55) to Valdosta's 30.9 percent (17-of-55).  The Lady Bucs out-rebounded VSU 43-35, including 15-13 on the offensive glass, but they committed 17 turnovers to Valdosta's 16.

The Lady Bucs complete the first half of the GSC schedule Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they visit West Florida.  Their next home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2:05 p.m. against Delta State.
