Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Host Ouachita Baptist shot 56.8 percent Monday afternoon on their way to a 71-62 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in the final non-conference game of the season for both schools.
The Lady Bucs (3-8) controlled most of the first half, using an 8-1 run to open a 25-17 lead on a
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) jumper with 3:50 remaining in the first half. From there, however, Ouachita Baptist (10-1) pounded the ball inside to leading scorer Monica Williams, who scored 20 of her game-high 24 points over a 16:45 stretch from 2:24 in the first half to 5:39 in the second half.
Ouachita went to Williams for three straight baskets to start the second half, reclaiming the lead for good, and they would build their lead to as many as 12 points over the final minutes of the game.
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) led the Lady Bucs with 18 points, all in the first half, while
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored 12.
Ty Harris (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added six points, six assists, and four steals.
Williams led the Lady Tigers with 24 points and seven rebounds, while Katherine West scored 14. Nashia James added a dozen.
The Lady Bucs shot just 37.1 percent (23-of-62) for the game to Ouachita's 56.8 percent (25-of-44), and Ouachita was 6-of-11 from three-point range to the Lady Bucs' 3-of-10. OBU out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 32-30, but CBU grabbed 15 offensive boards to the Lady Tigers' seven and forced 26 turnovers while committing 19.
The Lady Bucs return to GSC play Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. when they visit Alabama-Huntsville. Their next home game is Thursday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m. against West Georgia.
