Box Score JACKSON, Tenn.--Host Union made 12 three-pointers as they rolled to a 79-50 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs (15-6, 10-3 GSC) made eight triples in the first half, including seven during a 21-5 run early on that blew open a tie game and left Union ahead 23-7 on a Paige Parker trey with 8:07 remaining in the first half.
The Lady Bucs (5-15, 2-10) used seven straight points from
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) to pull within 46-35 with 13:40 remaining, but Union answered with a 19-7 run to put the game out of reach.
Reeves scored a team-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.
Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) added eight.
Christina Coney led the Lady Bulldogs with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Astrid Huttemann scored 18, and Amber Rechis added 17.
Union shot 49.1 percent (28-of-57) for the game, including 41.4 percent (12-of-29) from three-point range. CBU shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49) overall and 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from beyond the arc. Union out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 34-25, including a 10-5 edge in offensive boards, and they forced 15 CBU turnovers while committing eight.
The Lady Bucs come home Thursday night at 5:05 p.m. to take on Alabama-Huntsville.
