Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Second-seeded North Alabama used a 26-5 run spanning most of the second half to pull away for a 63-52 victory over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Raymond James Gulf South Conference Basketball Championships.
The Lady Bucs (7-20) led for most of the game, using a 13-0 burst late in the first half to open a 23-13 lead with 6:33 remaining in the first half. The Lady Bucs held the leadinto the second half, using a 5-0 burst to take a 33-27 lead on a

From there, however, the Lady Bucs went cold. The Lions (20-9) scored nine straight points to regain the lead for good, and by the time two Corinne White free throws with 2:43 remaining capped the 26-5 run, the Lions led 53-38. The Lady Bucs were unable to come closer than nine points again.
Ridgell led the Lady Bucs with 19 points.
Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) scored 12, and
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) added 11.
Nichelle Fillmore led the Lions with 18 points. Lauren Faris added 12, and Jennifer Towne had 10.
The Lady Bucs shot 38.5 percent (20-of-52) for the game to the Lions' 40 percent (20-of-50). UNA shot 74.1 percent (20-of-27) at the free throw line to the Lady Bucs' 50 percent (7-of-14). UNA out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 38-30, including a 13-12 edge in offensive rebounds, and they forced 18 CBU turnovers while committing 14.
