Box Score MEMPHIS–Visiting Valdosta State used two goals by Blakely McClellan to claim a 2-1 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs in a battle of unbeaten teams at Signaigo Field Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Bucs (4-1-1, 1-1-0 GSC) struck first in the 11th minute as
Emily Smith (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored when a
Mariana Tonelli (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) through-ball found her on a perfectly-timed run. McClellan scored her first goal in the 25th minute, finishing off a free kick by Aline Friedrich.
McClellan scored the game-winner in the 59th minute, converting on a cross from Lauren Hale.
VSU out-shot the Lady Bucs 13-6 for the game, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made five saves for the Lady Bucs.
The Lady Bucs hit the road for their next two games, stepping out of GSC play to face Trevecca Nazarene Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. and visiting North Alabama Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Lady Bucs come home to face Delta State Friday night, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m.
