Lady Bucs Rally Past Argos 57-49

Erica Burgess scored 13 points as the Lady Bucs won 57-49 at West Florida Thursday night.
Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs outscored host West Florida 9-0 over the final 2:49 to rally for a 57-49 win Thursday night in a game that featured nine ties and eight lead changes.

The Lady Bucs (9-6, 5-4 GSC) threatened to pull away early, opening the game on a 10-2 run capped by a Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) layup with 12:59 remaining in the half. The Argos (10-5, 5-4) answered with a 10-2 run of their own to tie the game at 12, and neither team would lead by more than five points again until the final minutes.

UWF took its final lead on a Raquel Miller layup with 3:08 remaining, giving them a 49-48 lead. Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) sank a free throw to tie the game with 2:49 remaining, and her putback layup with 2:30 remaining gave CBU the lead for good. Ridgell sank another basket with 1:13 remaining to give CBU a 53-49 lead, and Erica Burgess (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) and Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) made two free throws each in the final 15 seconds to set the final margin.

Ridgell led the Lady Bucs with 15 points and three steals, while Burgess and Reeves scored 13 each.

Jasmine Wigfall led the Argos with 15 points, and Katie Bobos added 13.

The Lady Bucs shot 39.2 percent (20-of-51) for the game while holding the Argos to 31.6 percent (18-of-57). Each team grabbed 38 rebounds, with UWF holding a 16-11 lead on the offensive glass. CBU forced 20 turnovers while committing 18.

The Lady Bucs wrap up the first half of the GSC schedule Saturday night at 5 p.m. as they visit Valdosta State. The Lady Bucs' next home game is Thursday, Jan. 30,
