Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs shot a season-high 57 percent from the floor as they rolled to a 74-63 win over visiting Shorter Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
After falling behind 19-15 early, the Lady Bucs (6-4, 2-2 GSC) went on a 25-10 run, building their lead to 40-29 with 2:25 remaining in the half on back-to-back
Erin Wilson (Memphis, Tenn./Overton HS) layups.
The Lady Bucs never allowed Shorter (4-6, 2-2) closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) led the Lady Bucs with 20 points, three steals and a career-high six assists.
Erica Burgess (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) tacked on 14 points and six assists.
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored 12 points, and
Ashley Schaefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) added 11.
Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) scored nine points to go with her team-highs of 10 rebounds and two blocks.
Lynette Harris led the Lady Hawks with 24 points, and Kristin Nash scored 13. Karisma Boykin scored nine to go with a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Lady Bucs were 28-of-49 from the floor, the fourth-best field goal percentage in school history and the highest since they shot 58.1 percent against North Alabama Jan. 2, 2006. CBU held Shorter to 41.4 percent (24-of-58) overall. CBU out-rebounded Shorter 33-27, but SU held a 9-5 edge in offensive boards. Each team committed 19 turnovers.
The Lady Bucs return to action Monday night at 5 p.m. as they host West Georgia.
