Lady Bucs Tame Wolves 64-51

Samantha Reeves scored 14 points in the Lady Bucs' 64-51 win over West Georgia Monday night.
Box Score MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs shut out visiting West Georgia for the first 10:08 of the second half, going on a 14-0 run to take control on their way to a 64-51 win over visiting West Georgia, notching their first three-game GSC winning streak since 2009-10.

The Lady Bucs (7-4, 3-2 GSC) threatened to pull away early, taking leads of 6-0 and 12-7, but UWG (2-9, 0-5) answered with a 7-0 run and led by as many as four points late in the first half.

During the scoreless stretch to start the second half, UWG was 0-for-12 with five turnovers, with CBU extending its lead to 44-29 on an Ashley Winston (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton HS) layup with 10:21 remaining. CBU led by as many as 19 points in the final minutes as UWG never came closer than 10 points again.

Erica Burgess (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) led the Lady Bucs with 15 points to go with six rebounds and four asists. Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) tacked on 14, while Taylor Pugh (Memphis, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian HS) and Branna Ridgell scored 13 each, with Ridgell adding seven rebounds.

Marion Lemonnier led the Wolves with 14 points.

The Lady Bucs shot 47.6 percent (20-of-42) from the floor while holding UWG to 34.7 percent (17-of-49). UWG held a 28-26 edge on the boards, including a 13-8 lead in offensive rebounds, but they committed 18 turnovers to CBU's 14.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit Lee. Their next home game is Thursday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m. against Union.
