MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs edged No. 21 Alabama-Huntsville 1-0 on a penalty kick in the 71st minute Friday night before an overflow crowd at Signaigo Field.
After 70 scoreless minutes, the Bucs (6-2, 2-1 GSC) earned a penalty kick in the 71st minute when the Chargers (7-2, 2-1) committed a handball in the box.
Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) buried the penalty in the back of the net for the only goal, and the Bucs' defense held on for a 1-0 victory.
The Bucs out-shot UAH 14-10 for the game, including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.
Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made a pair of saves as he earned his second shutout of the season.
The Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as they host West Alabama.
