Bucs Best Bisons 92-68

MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Bucs snapped a two-game skid in emphatic fashion with a 92-68 win over Harding Wednesday afternoon at Canale Arena in the final non-conference game of the season for both schools.

The Bucs (6-4) opened the game on a 14-2 run and never let Harding (5-6) come closer than five points again. After the Bucs extended their lead to 43-29 at halftime on a Drew Hildreth (Memphis, Tenn./Bolton HS) slam dunk, Harding cut the CBU lead back to 43-34 on a Jacob Gibson three-point play a minute into the second half.

Hildreth answered with a three-pointer that sparked a 21-6 run that put the game out of reach quickly. When Ryan Fleming (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) capped the run on a jumper with 12:02 remaining, the Bucs led 64-40. A 7-0 burst later in the game gave the Bucs a 74-44 lead with 8:35 remaining, and Harding never came closer than 26 points again until the final minute as CBU led by as many as 32 points down the stretch.

Casey collected game-highs of 18 points and four steals, making 7-of-13 field goals, including 3-of-5 from three-point range. Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) used a perfect shooting night to score 16 points, making all five field goals, four of which were three-pointers, and he was 2-for-2 at the free throw line. Hildreth scored 13 with a pair of blocks, and Jordan Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) scored 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Fleming scored eight with five assists, and Sidy Sall (Dakar, Senegal/Seeds Academy) scored eight with a game-high seven rebounds.

Jacob Roark led Harding with 16 points. Andraz Kavas scored 15, and Antoine Burrell added 13.

The Bucs shot a sizzling 58.6 percent (34-of-58) for the game, including 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from three-point range. They held Harding to 41.4 percent (24-of-58) overall and just 21.4 percent (6-of-28) from three-point range. Both teams were 14-of-18 (77.8 percent) at the charity stripe. The Bucs held a commanding 39-20 edge in rebounds, including a 14-9 edge in offensive boards, but they committed 11 turnovers to the Bisons' nine.

CBU opens the new year as they return to GSC action Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Valdosta State, the first of a three-game GSC road trip. Their next home game is Monday night, Jan. 12, as they host Alabama-Huntsville at 7 p.m.
