Lady Flames Hold Off Lady Bucs 67-58

Erica Burgess scored 18 points in the Lady Bucs' 67-58 loss to Lee Saturday.
Box Score MEMPHIS-Visiting Lee shot 89 percent at the free throw line as they claimed a 67-58 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.

The Lady Bucs (12-9, 8-7 GSC) took an early lead when Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) capped a 9-0 run with a jumper in the lane that gave them a 9-4 lead with 14:17 remaining in the half.

Lee (17-4, 13-2) retook the lead but couldn't pull away until a three-pointer to end the first half and another to start the second gave them a 33-22 lead with 18:09 remaining. The Lady Bucs cut the deficit to one point twice, but they were unable to complete the comeback and the Lady Flames made eight straight free throws over the final minute and a half to put the game out of reach.

Erica Burgess (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) led the Lady Bucs with 18 points and four assists, while Ridgell scored 17. Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored 11 with five rebounds.

Hollie German paced the Lady Flames with 21 points, making a perfect 12-of-12 at the free throw line. Jenna Adams scored 18, and Myriah Iles added 12.

The Lady Flames shot 40 percent (18-of-45) from the floor for the game to the Lady Bucs' 37 percent (20-of-54), but they were 89.3 percent (25-of-28) at the charity stripe to CBU's 84.2 percent (16-of-19). Lee outrebounded the Lady Bucs 33-25, including a 10-8 edge in offensive boards, but they committed 11 turnovers to the Lady Bucs' seven.

The Lady Bucs return to action Monday night at 5:30 p.m. as they visit Delta State.
