Wolves Outlast Lady Bucs 65-55

Taylor Pugh scored seven points with nine rebounds, but the Lady Bucs dropped a 65-55 decision at West Georgia Saturday afternoon.
Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga.-Host West Georgia outscored the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 18-5 over the final nine minutes to rally for a 65-55 win Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bucs (12-8, 8-6) used an 18-5 run of their own in the first half to take a 25-20 lead on an Emily Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) three-pointer with 3:53 remaining in the first half. They led by as many as seven points late in the half, but neither side led by more than four points for most of the second half.

After an Erica Burgess (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) jumper gave CBU a 50-47 lead with 9:05 remaining, the Wolves rattled off an 11-0 run that gave them a 58-50 lead on a Shakirla McLin jumper with 6:03 remaining. The Lady Bucs never came closer than five points in the game's final minutes.

Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) scored a game-high 18 points with nine rebounds for the Lady Bucs, while Burgess scored 11 and Breanna Ridgell (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added 10.

Seandre Lee scored 14 to lead the Wolves. Angela Davis and Marion Lemmonier tacked on 11 each.

The Lady Bucs shot just 34.5 percent (19-of-55) for the game to UWG's 41.5 percent (22-of-53). Each team grabbed 34 rebounds, while the Lady Bucs committed 12 turnovers to UWG's 11.

The Lady Bucs conclude their three-game road trip Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. as they visit Delta State. Their next home game is Saturday, Feb. 15, as they celebrate Homecoming against Lee.
