Bucs Blank Lynx 1-0

MEMPHIS-Christian Brothers University senior forward Jose Ferraz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) scored the game-winning goal for the third time in four games to lift the Bucs to a 1-0 win over Rhodes Thursday night at Signaigo Field.

Ferraz scored the game's only goal, his eighth of the season, in just the fourth minute of the game, after Diego Silva Vieira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Pitagoras) found him with a throughball into the 18-yard box, and Ferraz fired a shot into the right side of the net.

From there, the Bucs (4-0) kept the pressure on, but Rhodes (2-3-1) goalkeeper Riley Sheen made seven saves to hold the Bucs' lead at 1-0.

For the game, the Bucs out-shot Rhodes 21-1, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. Britton McGuire (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) made a diving save on the only Rhodes shot of the day to earn his first shutout of the season, the Bucs' second as a team.

The Bucs return to action Monday night at 6 p.m. as they host Mississippi College in their final tune-up before beginning Gulf South Conference play at Spring Hill next Friday afternoon.
