Skyhawks Rally Past Bucs 10-4

MARTIN, Tenn.-The Christian Brothers University Bucs led host UT-Martin into the sixth inning, but the host Skyhawks scored seven runs in their final three innings to claim a 10-4 victory Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Skyhawks (5-16) opened the scoring quickly in the bottom of the first, with a leadoff single followed by back-to-back homers for a 3-0 lead.
• The Bucs (8-12) tied the game in the top of the second. Three straight one-out walks to Charles Kelly (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett HS), Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) and Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) loaded the bases. Lucas Castleberry (Bryant, Ark./Bryant HS) drove Kelly in with a sacrifice fly, and Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) hot a two-run triple to tie the game.
• The Bucs took the lead in the top of the third inning. Stephen Joe (Madison, Miss./Ridgeland HS) led off with a double. After moving to third on a passed ball, he scored on a Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) groundout.
• The CBU lead held until the bottom of the sixth, when the Skyhawks scored four runs on two walks, two singles and two doubles.
• UTM added a run in the seventh on three walks and a sacrifice fly.
• The Skyhawks set the final margin with a two-run eighth on two walks, two singles and a hit batter.

KEY STATS:
• Joe was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
• Smith went 1-for-3 with a triple, a hit by pitch, a walk and two RBI.
• Casey Goodwin was 1-for-2 with a run, a hit by pitch and a walk.
• Caleb Goodwin went 1-for-3 with a double, a run and a walk.

NOTABLE:
• Cameron Coker (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) went 0-for-4, ending his hitting streak at 14 games. He had reached base safely in the Bucs' first 19 games.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs hit the road this weekend to visit West Alabama for a GSC series. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 2 p.m., with a single game set for 1 p.m. Sunday. The Bucs' next home game is Wednesday, April 8, when they host Delta State at 3 p.m.
