LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday afternoon, winning 7-0 and 6-1.
GAME 1:WHAT HAPPENED:After being held scoreless for the first four innings, host West Alabama (21-8, 14-5 GSC) scored in each of their last four trips to the plate and three pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout as they won 7-0 over the Bucs (8-14, 3-10).
HOW IT HAPPENED:• Neither team scored over the first four frames. In the fifth, UWA used a hit batter, two singles and a homer to plate four runs.
• The Tigers used a hit batter, a stolen base and a pair of flyouts to bring home another run in the sixth.
• UWA added another run in the seventh on a walk and two singles.
• The Tigers set the final margin with an eighth-inning run on a single and two doubles.
KEY STATS:•
Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) went 2-for-3.

Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) was 1-for-3 with a walk.
•
Stephen Joe (Madison, Miss./Ridgeland HS) and
Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) each went 1-for-4.
GAME 2:WHAT HAPPENED:The Tigers scored six runs in their final two trips to the plate in a 6-1 win over the Bucs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• Just as in game one, the game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when UWA used a walk and three singles to plate two runs.
• The Tigers extended their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, when they scored four runs on a walk, three singles and a double.
• The Bucs shaved a run off the final margin with a two-out rally in the top of the seventh.
Casey Goodwin (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) singled to center and moved to second when
Riley Kilgore (Cordova, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) was hit by a pitch. Joe walked to load the bases, and
Blain Curtis (Atoka, Tenn./Tipton Rosemark Academy) worked a bases-loaded walk to score Goodwin.
KEY STATS:• Curtis went 2-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.
• Goodwin was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.

Taylor Seaman (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) held UWA to one run on four hits in four-plus innings, with four strikeouts and no walks.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Bucs and Tigers meet again tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the series finale. The Bucs' next home game is Wednesday, April 8, when they host Delta State at 3 p.m.
