Tigers Top Bucs 10-2

LIVINGSTON, Ala.-Host West Alabama defeated the Christian Brothers University Bucs 10-2 Sunday afternoon to wrap up a series sweep of the Bucs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UWA (22-8, 15-5 GSC) struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Tanner Rainey hit the first of his two home runs in the game, a one-out solo shot.
• The Tigers used an error, a double and a single to plate two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
• UWA added a run to its lead in the fourth inning on a single, two stolen bases and a sacrifice fly.
• The Tigers extended their lead to 6-0 with two runs in the fifth on two walks and two singles.
• The Bucs (8-15, 3-11) broke up the shutout with a two-run sixth inning. Myles Holliman (Germantown, Tenn./Germantown HS) walked but was erased when Stephen Joe (Madison, Miss./Ridgeland HS) grounded into a force play. Mac Cooley (Bartlett, Tenn./Horn Lake HS) followed with a two-run homer to left field, his third of the season.
• The Tigers set the final score with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, on two walks, a hit batter, a sacrifice fly and a three-run inside-the-park homer by Rainey.

KEY STATS:
• Cooley went 1-for-4 with a home run, a run and two RBIs.
• Holliman was 1-for-3 with a walk.
• Mickey Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) went 1-for-3.
• Caleb Goodwin (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) went 1-for-4.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they visit LeMoyne-Owen for a doubleheader. Their next home game is Wednesday, April 8, as they host Delta State at 3 p.m.
