Hawks Down Bucs 2-1

MEMPHIS-The first time visiting Shorter scored Sunday afternoon, the Christian Brothers University Bucs equalized just 28 seconds later. The second time, however, the Hawks held on for a 2-1 victory at Signaigo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Darwin Lom put the Hawks (3-4-0, 2-0-0 GSC) on the board in just the third minute of the game as he converted off a breakaway.
Djordje Djordjovic (Basin, Serbia/Palanacka Gimnazija) equalized for the Bucs (4-5-0, 0-3-0) just 28 seconds later. He gathered a failed Hawk clearance attempt, dribbled to the top right corner of the 18-yard box and fired a shot into the back of the net.
• The game-winner came in similar fashion in the 60th minute, after the Bucs failed to clear a second consecutive Shorter corner kick. Mauricio Rancel tracked down the loose ball and scored what proved to be the game-winner.
• CBU threatened to equalize several times in the final half hour, especially in the 89th minute, when Xavi Lao (Barcelona, Spain/Escola Pia Sabadell) headed a pass from Djordjevic into the net, but it was waved off for the Bucs' ninth offsides of the game, and the Hawks ran out the clock.

KEY STATS:
• The Bucs out-shot Shorter 13-8 for the game, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Friday night at 7 p.m. as they host West Alabama.
